Canada’s wireless community in partnership with the RCMP and AMBER Alert agencies across the country have now made it possible for most cell phone users to receive AMBER Alerts right to their phones.

The service, hosted by MyThum Interactive, is intended to provide the public with immediate and up-to-date information about a child’s abduction, which will in turn help with the speedy return of the child.

“Through cooperation between the RCMP and wireless service providers, this initiative will demonstrate how technology can help fight serious criminal activity and make the most vulnerable citizens in our society safer, says Minister of Public Safety Vic Toews.

The program is completely free and available to cell phone users in all ten provinces and three territories. Users can subscribe by visiting www.WirelessAMBER.ca or by talking to their service provider.
