Client Objective Ford and Lincoln were interested in providing consumers with the
ability to access details about their cars directly from the mobile phone. Through a partnership with Quattro Wireless, mobile optimized web pages had been created for each brand, however Ford and
Lincoln needed a solution to make these web pages as easy as possible for consumers to access.
Solution Rather than promote the mobile URL, we enabled Ford and Lincoln to promote a simple SMS keyword. When consumers text the keyword (eg MUSTANG) to the
Ford short code 43673 (4FORD) they are immediately sent a message with a direct link to the correct page. The use of different keyword “aliases enables Ford to measure what call to action the
consumer is responding to. We also provide weekly reporting of inquiries for each keyword and work closely with Quattro to keep the SMS keywords and mobile web destinations synchronized as
content is added or updated.
Results Since the program launched, we have processed more than 3,000 requests for product information by SMS.
