Mobile Social Media Integration
Client Objective Sony Canada wanted a mobile infrastructure that would make it easy to deploy
mulitple ongoing campaigns, build a database of people willing to receive special offers, and have all of this integrated with social media marketing.
Solution We set up the short code SONY1 (76691) as a general contest, promotion and database tool that Sony can use across multiple brands and campaigns. For the
first execution, Sony offered people who subscribe to their mobile database $25 off its Sony Reader product. Users text the word READER to subscribe and are sent an immediate response message giving
them a unique PIN to redeem at sonystyle.ca for their offer. They are also offered the ability to share the coupon with friends by sending an SMS with the word FACEBOOK. When they send this message
they are directed to a branded mobile web page where they verify their username and password. Once they do this their Facebook newsfeed is populated with a message encouraging others to get their own
coupon by sending the word SONY.
Results The tight integration of social media with SMS makes for a seamless user experience. The program is currently in market.
